Jubilee House, Woodbridge

Jubilee House in Seckford Street, Woodbridge is a residential care home for up to 25 residents (very sheltered accommodation). They required a single storey extension to the existing accommodation to form additional bedroom units.

We were commissioned to undertake the Principal Designer role, together with the structural engineering design.

Due to the poor ground conditions it was necessary to undertake an underpinning design for an existing retaining wall to take the necessary loading for a new cavity wall. The underpinning bays required reinforced concrete in 1m widths to stabilise the ground and create sufficient bearing capacity. We also designed the reinforced cavity wall together with traditional foundations and the drainage layout and details.

Careful consideration in planning the works was taken with regard to the elderly residents of the home with particular attention to security and traffic management.

We have worked with the Seckford Foundation for many years, assisting in the development of many parts of their estate.
