JP Chick & Partners Ltd worked with Purplesnail, which is a collective of East Anglian Artists, on this unique project where Art and Science have been combined into a visually exciting installation on Felixstowe Beach, running from 23 August to 15 September 2008.
A series of fibreglass beach huts modelled on a Victorian example are seen to disappear into the sea reminding us that the sea levels around the East Coast will rise by at least 50 cms in 100 years. Global warming will have a very real and very local impact. The message is clear and simple delivered in a stunningly visual manner: by changing our patterns of consumption the predicted sea level rise can be halted. We can all take responsibility for a global problem which impacts local communities and threatens our coastal way of life which we may have taken for granted.
