The contract was to provide additional teaching facilities within the existing Art, Design and Technology department. Temporariliy these would be used to accommodate the sixth form during subsequent development of the school facilities.

Comprising a single-storey steel framed structure, to achieve open plan workshops, the building was curved on plan to suit the available space on site. Its location, also on a sloping site adjacent to existing structres founded at a higher level, resulted in retaining walls integral with the foundations.
