CANON PALMER HIGH SCHOOL,
Seven Kings, Ilford, Essex
Construction of a new two-storey science and mathematics block for Canon Palmer High School in Seven Kings. The new accommodation included for six science labs in the ground floor and seven teaching rooms at first floor level. The project also included a two-storey link structure between the new and existing school buildings. Curved roofs and curved external corners featured in many areas.
The building is a steel framed structure with masonry infill panels. The foundation solution was based on piles and ground beams - complicated in some areas by the presence of extra high voltage cables running under the site.
